...Back in the noughties I joined, had a teaching career break to travel abroad then returned. I’m passionate about swimming. I love the pool, the building and the community. There really is nowhere else like it - our club is unique! It’s a wonderful place for me to keep fit, hangout, relax and escape the humdrum of day to day life. I’m already missing my lengths which keep me fit and keep me counting! I’m also missing friends, staff and the Turkish Suite where I’ve spent many an hour relaxing. I’m missing the chat, the humour, the coffees and (occasional...) glass of wine. Not forgetting the free newspapers, fluffy white towels, hot showers and deep, deep bath tubs. And always, ALWAYS, the peace and tranquillity which never, ever leaves the old place. The club isn’t my only passion, another is my art and I’m missing the artist folk. Especially all those who contribute towards our collaborative, inclusive and successful group exhibitions that help raise funds to renovate the club. Great fun, great support and great creativity. I miss all that and can’t wait to get back. That’s why I’m sticking with the Arlington.
