Clubbing Together - Fiona & Keith

"Let me introduce you to the Arlington Baths, it’ll be good for you." Maybe not the best ever chat up line, but it seems to have worked."

Fiona & Keith

We’re asking people what they love about the baths. Fiona Macdonald works with Public Health Scotland and her husband Keith, works with Médecins Sans Frontières. Fiona joined in 1991 when she moved to Glasgow as a graduate. Twenty years later Keith was told - you’re joining the club...

When I met Keith in 2010 I said "Let me introduce you to the Arlington Baths, it’ll be good for you." Maybe not the best ever chat up line, but it seems to have worked. And how time flies when you’re enjoying yourselves. I can't believe I joined almost thirty years ago and he’s been here 10 years already. We’re in no doubt that there have been benefits to our health and wellbeing, particularly staying connected to the Arlington community. When you're working out or chilling out in such wonderful surroundings, it’s easy to forget our club is owned and run by members. Unlike commercial gyms, we have a real say in how our club can be improved. I served as Club Secretary for five years and although Keith has felt there were three of us in this marriage at times, I’m glad I had the chance to add my efforts to all the volunteers who’ve given their time to help the old place survive and thrive. Once this latest public health challenge is worked through, we hope the club will continue to play a significant and important part in our lives. That’s why we’re sticking with the Arlington.

If you’d like to share why you joined and why you’ll stick with us, send words and pictures to info@arlingtonbaths.co.uk
