The Burnets & the Baths

From: August 1st 2021 until August 1st 2021

5pm Reading Room

The Burnets were one of Glasgow’s great architectural dynasties and starting from the 1840s, they left a century long mark on the city producing some of its best known buildings including Arlington Baths. But who were they? John Burnet’s reputation seems to have been eclipsed by his higher profile son, Sir John James Burnet, while Edith Burnet Hughes – one of the first women architects in the UK – has also been over-shadowed by her more famous uncle. Nevertheless, their collective output is hugely impressive and worthy of note so join Niall Murphy, Deputy Director of the Glasgow City Heritage Trust for a whistle stop tour through their legacy.

Tickets are free but limited, book here at Eventbrite.
