In the Shadow of the Crane Book Launch

From: November 11th 2020 until November 11th 2020

In November we’re usually gearing up to welcome readers and writers into the Baths as part of Book Week Scotland. Sadly we can’t do that this year but here’s a few events that might be of interest, including launches and a discussion event from our regular Book Week Scotland collaborators Ringwood Publishing.

In the Shadow of the Crane by John Keeman

Celebrate the launch of John Keeman’s memoir, In the Shadow of the Crane, a powerful story of growing up beneath the shadow of the Finnieston Crane. With special guest speakers and excerpts from the book, the event will explore the trials, tribulations and fond memories of a true Glaswegian through a diverse slew of careers, and into some of his most personal moments – both joyful and painful. With a voice equal parts wry and candid, John tells his anecdotally-rich story; indeed, not everyone, for instance, can say that they’ve literally sent Eartha Kitt flying! John’s book is a powerful argument in the defence of collective support and strength, and a railing against the recent dismantling of the elements that provided that collective support to the poorest and most vulnerable members of society.
